Attilio Orlando (1906-1980) was born in Milan. In 1923 he started attending the Academy of Brera, where he had Ambrogio Alciati, Giuseppe Palanti and Aldo Carpi as his teachers. These would soon single out the extraordinary drawing capabilities of their disciple. In 1928 he made a long journey to Morocco, which inspired to him a set of beautiful oil tables. In 1931 he opened his first studio in Milan, where he deepened his study of figure and portraits. In 1934 he dedicated with passion to engraving and etching, and he even designed a special etching press. At the end of the thirties he was actively taking part in the intellectual life of the city of Milan. After the second world war, he continued painting for a selected circle of customers, among whom is the famous tenor Tito Schipa. The themes of his works are landscapes, still lives, portraits.

Luca Postiglione (1876-1936) was a painter born in Naples. In 1896 he made his debut owing to the intervention of the Societą Promotrice di Belle Arti of Naples. In 1904 he took part in the Italian Exhibition of London. The themes of his works are figures, interiors and still-lives.

Luigi Brignoli (1881-1952) studied at the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo-, an important northern Italian artistic town. He was a disciple of Cesare Tallone and Ponziano Loverini (1845-1929). He travelled quite a lot, especially to Africa, where he made a great number of exotic landscapes. He was an excellent portraitist and landscapist, a lover of vivid colours with yellow, red and copper green combinations. He taught at the Accademia Carrara from 1928 to 1930.

Pietro Servalli (1883-1973) attended the -Accademia Carrara of Bergamo-, a northern Italian artistic town. He was a disciple of Cesare Tallone and Ponziano Loverini (1845-1929). In 1924 he received an award at the exhibition of the Feminine Portrait of Monza. He also worked to the making of religious frescoes, and several works of his are found in several churches of Lombardy. He also moved to Monaco di Baviera for a short time, and there he specialized at Herterich. The themes of his works are landscapes and portraits.

Alpine refuge (Romualdo Locatelli)

Romualdo Locatelli (1905-1943), a painter, was born in Bergamo, a northern Italian artistic town, and disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the surroundings of Manila (Philippine Islands). Arrived in Indonesia in 1938, settled in Bali until 1940 when he relocated to Manila. The work "il dolore" (Pain), which can now be found in the Bergamo Picture-gallery of Modern Art, made when he was 20, is considered to be his masterpiece and was awarded, in 1925, the Principe Umberto award. Among his most prominent works are the portraits of "Cardinal Federico Todeschini" and "Cardinal Tisserant", which are now held by the Vatican; the portrait of Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, owned by the son, the former king Umberto di Savoia. His works made in the Philippine Islands are very remarkable. Among them are the portrait of the "President of the Philippines" who was governing at that historical time. Other works of his are found in private collections in Rome, Milan, Bergamo.
